Send Your Teen to a Catholic Boarding School E-mail

These days we hear many stories of young people who have gone off the rails. And they are the ones whose deeds make the newspapers or TV news bulletins. There are millions of parents with a troubled teen wishing they knew the answer to helping their child.

One of the main issues here is the reason why a troubled teen is troubled. What makes them defiant or angry or get involved in drugs and alcohol? Of course if we knew why there would probably be far fewer delinquents and life would be much better for the troubled teen and his or her family.

But what needs to be provided is help and that’s where Catholic boarding schools play a very important role. Many parents are Christians and feel that their teen needs all the help they can get with a biblical grounding as well.

Troubled teens often bear a grudge. It may be against their parents, their teachers, peers or even against the world. In helping this type of teen, it is vital that the hatred and aggression inside the teen is removed and replaced with a positive and caring nature, one which will continue once they leave the boarding school and, hopefully, throughout their life.

Catholic boarding schools offer excellent programs in all the usual fields such as in the academic sphere and sporting activities. Many involve outdoor education and the performing arts. But the added ingredient is the teaching of scripture and the religious education program.

The religious aspect of the program is not just the fundamentals of a Christian upbringing but includes the important input known as a moral compass. Education in a Catholic boarding school places great importance on morality, in teaching students the difference between right and wrong. With troubled teens this is doubly important because of the child’s previous history of being in trouble and maybe even breaking the law.

By teaching not only the laws of the land but also God’s laws, students in a Catholic boarding school are given a road map for the life’s behavior. They can gain inner strength knowing that the morality they are learning is based on God’s law and will stand each teen in good stead.

It’s important that any troubled teen be properly assessed and that is an essential part of the school’s philosophy. Each teen is important, unique and needs care. The important fact is that these schools are not just Christian in nature but are boarding schools, so the teaching faculty and the back-up staff members are able to assist the students on a 24/7 basis. Giving the students a wide range of activities gives them little time in which to fall foul of the law and being under constant supervision gives peace of mind to the parents and helps the school win over the troubled teen and have him or her back to being enthusaistic about life and all the good things that can bring. Any parent of a troubled teen would do well to investigate all that a Catholic boarding school has to offer.
