Advantages of a High School Boarding Schools E-mail

If you talk to the parents of a child attending a boarding high school you will get many a positive answer. According to the parents there is no comparison with life in a conventional public high school. That of course is not to denigrate public schools but rather to praise the many benefits found in a boarding high school. How shall I name the benefits? Let me count the ways.

Generally speaking, students in a boarding high school do much more homework than their peers in the public school system, they watch far less television and they get excellent grades. More students in boarding high schools reach their maximum potential. Few if any fall by the way side because the regular testing and constant supervision spots any weaknesses and works to fix them before it is too late. Sadly public high schools are not always able to help some who drop out of school for whatever reason.

Class sizes in a boarding high school are much smaller than elsewhere and with the staff living on campus there is far more time and opportunity to tutor the students and supervise their homework sessions. Some sessions are mandatory and held under teacher supervision.

The environment of a boarding high school is safe, secure and supportive. Students are not free to wander off and mix with the wrong crowd. There are plenty of wholesome activities within the school and lots of things for the students to do.

Because of the family atmosphere within the boarding high school, students are able to develop strong ties with staff and administrators as all are working for the good of the student and the good of the school. There is time to chat either socially or seriously. There is time to work through problems and to set tasks which will encourage and challenge the students.

Weekends are student orientated and there are many activities to occupy the time. Students learn leadership skills and to think independently. It’s a full-time commitment to excellence and growth.

Going to any high school usually means preparation for college. This is a top priority in a boarding high school. But there’s much more than that. Being able to think critically, to solve problems and to meet challenges are all benefits for students in a boarding high school. It’s part of growing up, of being prepared to become a positive person and a solid citizen.

Mind you there are many skills to be learnt too whether it be singing in a choir, dancing, learning to sail or survive in the wilderness.

Many parents will be dissuaded by the cost of a boarding high school. There are some scholarships and there certainly are loans and payment plans. And on top of that there is the saving in not having a food-hungry teenager always under your feet at home. Boarding high schools have a lot going for them and their students.

It is often what you put into something that you can expect to take out. Boarding high schools are a wonderful place for young people to contribute and from that to receive many rewards.
