Nevada is a largely desert, semi-arid state which is located in the southwestern region of the United States of America. It's one of the most extensive states in the country, although it's not densely populated. Most of its population lives in the Las Vegas area.
Over 85% of the land in Nevada is owned by the US government for military and other purposes. One of the things that made Nevada a popular tourist destination is the prevalence of gambling spots and the fact that getting married and getting a divorce can be pretty easy in the state. Nevada is also considered to be one of the main producers of gold in the world, and mining is still one of the biggest industries in Nevada until now.
Nevada has one of the driest, most arid clmates in the US. Its temperatures can reach at least 125 F during summers and as low as -50 F during winters. Most regions in Nevada don't experience much rain throughout the year.
The racial distribution of the population in Nevada is composed mainly of White Americans (65%), Hispanics (20%). A small percentage of the population is composed of African Americans (7.1%), Asian Americans (6%), and other ethnic groups such as American Indians among others. Many immigrants from other countries were drawn to the gold rush in California, and a lot of them settled in Nevada, in the Las Vegas area. Today, the Asian American communities in Nevada is some of the largest in the country. The most prevalent of the Asian American community is the Filipino Americans which makes up over half the Asian Americans of Nevada's population.
