Established in 1911, Cotter continues to provide unique academic opportunities especially in math and sciences. The school's college preparatory curriculum is designed to give students an edge and to prepare them for the next stage in their academic life. The program includes courses that can be credited as college subjects as well as AP and Honors classes. Some examples of the school's wide variety of Honors courses include Classical Mechanics, Electronics/Robotics, Number Theory, Programming C++, Linear Algebra and more. Some examples of Advanced Placement courses include Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Environemental Science, Literature and Composition, Microeconomics, Statistics, and others. The wide variety of courses beginning from core subjects and branching out to more specific ones help students find their interests and broaden their knowledge on certain subjects. The school encourages a faith-based culture of honesty, respect, and service to others. To enrich the students' educational experience further, international summer exchange programs are available for interested students. Around 25% of the total population of the school (with 310 enrollees at a time) belongs to the international community. The school has a good ESL program which aims to help international students improve their conversational and writing skills in English. Students can also participate in different athletic programs available on different levels such as basketball, tennis, cross country, swimming, soccer, volleyball, hockey and others. The school has a graduation rate of 100%, with students ranking at the top percentile of ACT and SATs. It also provides learning support for students who find it hard to cope with the academic requirements and coursework. The school is accredited by NCA and TABS. |
