| Description: | Foxcroft Academy is a college preparatory boarding school in Maine for students grades 9 to 12. They offer 141 courses, 32 Honors courses, 8 Advanced Placement courses (plus 13 Advanced Placement courses that can be taken through the Virtual High School curriculum) and 32 Honors Courses. Foxcroft's Academy has strong math and science programs which exceed the state and national standards and which uses state-of-the-art technology and facilities. Foxcroft also has a well-established humanities program which helps widen students' world view and strengthens their foundation in the arts, literature, and music. The school also believes in helping students appreciate other countries' cultures through their foreign language program. This program includes four levels of Latin, French, and Spanish. Chinese is also being offered for two levels. The school's Visual Art Department offers classes for different levels of proficiency, from entry level to advanced levels. Students are taught principles of design, taught to use tools and different media to create art, and are taught how art is relevant to cultures and world history. The school also teaches students to use modern technology to create art such as combining iPad and photoshop to create contemporary art pieces. The school also provides classes that are outside the traditional courses being offered in most schools on high school levels. There are courses in web designing, personal finance, technical education, art history, economics, and many more. Foxcroft's dedication to excellence extends beyond the classroom and spills over to their academic program. The school has a long and proud athletic tradition, with their teams winning championships and state finals in football, wrestling, golf, field hockey, basketball, cross country, cheering, track and field, and many more. The school is accredited by NEASC, NAIS, ISANNE, and MAIS. |
