| Description: | Academy of the Sacred Heart is an all-girls college preparatory boarding school in Louisiana after the Catholic tradition. It is committed to helping young women experience a personal growth based on a strengthening faith in God. Students are taught to cultivate a deep respect for intellectual values. More than just book learning, though, students are also taught to espouse a certain level of social awareness which will someday help them become productive members of society with a strong social conscience. The Academy of the Sacred Heart teach young people to participate in an intellectually free atmosphere where exchanges of ideas are encouraged. Students and teachers interact in an environment where ideas are made to blossom instead of stifled by rote learning. The athletics department of the school functions as an integral part of its academic system. It's an integral part of the overall experience of students while studying at the academy. The school's athletic program provides students with many opportunities for growth, achievement, and leadership. It teaches young women to step up, push themselves beyond their limits, and take active roles in group activities. Women learn to see beyond society's gender biases and gain a healthy sense of competition and achievement. The school also has an Athletic Boost-Her Club which is an organization that is dedicated in improving the school's athletic program in order to give the school's athletes all the support that they need. The Club has been responsible for providing more training room tables, batting cage, trophy cases, and many more. The school has several after school programs that help enhance the learning and experience of young women outside classroom and athletics programs. There are cooking classes, sports camps, art classes, ceramics making, chess club, French culture club, choir, and many more. |
