Teen Boarding Schools in Indiana

Indiana is one of the 8 states that composes the Great Lakes region of the United States. It's located in the midwestern region of the country and is one of the most populous states. Indiana is also considered to be one of the least extensve states in the US, although its capital city, Indianapolis, is considered to be the largest state capital in its region.

Indiana has what could be classified as a humid continental climate. The winters are cool and the summers are warm, although its southern region gets more rainfall than ther parts of the state. Its population density is also higher compared with other states. Over 80% of the racial makeup of their population is comprised of white people, almost 10% of African Americans, less than 2% of Asians, and the rest is of mixed racial backgrounds.

Historically, Indiana was the first state to implement a constitution-mandated state-funded public school educational system. However, the funding was not sufficient to keep the schools (and one township's public university) open. Some changes were made and schools became tax-supported. The changes in Indiana's public school system was entered into the constitution and emulated by other states.

Most of the students in the state entered public schools, however over 10% of the student population attend private schools. There are a few Indiana boarding schools available for parents to consider. There are religious boarding schools like La Lumiere School which is a Catholic college preparatory school for girls and boys. The school provides support for students with ADHD/ADD. There are also other types of boarding schools like military schools. An example of this is the Culver Academies which is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory boarding school. These boarding schools have an excellent track record in terms of the number of students that go on to attend college. As with other boarding schools, they keep class sizes and teacher to student ratio small compared with public schools.
