| Description: | Darlington School is a college preparatory school for boarding (grades 9 to 12) and day students (preschool to grade 12). It has a great track record for preparing young people for college education. Its track record is the main reason why the school continuously draws students from all over the country as well as from an average of 30 different countries. Its 400-acre campus has impressive facilities for its athletic and artistic programs. The school focuses on not just knowing but also applying the knowledge learned in school. The school promotes knowledge and comprehension as an important first step. They also promote critical thinking by providing open-ended assignments where students can arrive at more than one answer. This way they can exercise their reasoning skills and creative thinking. Students are encouraged to ask questions, to think about alternative solutions and provoke themselves to deeper and more complex thought. The school's athletic program is also a central part of the students' school life. Students are able to enjoy a wide array of sports such as baseball, basketball, golf, diving, soccer, and many more. The goal of Darlington's athletic program is to provide students with a positive team experience. This way, students develop a healthy, competitive spirit and a spirit of sportsmanship. Darlington students are also encouraged to develop an appreciation for the fine and performing arts. They have an instrumental music conservatory as well as many events to showcase students' talents. One of them is the Fall for the Arts month. Aside from athletics and the arts, there are other extracurricular activities students can get involved in such as Honor Council, French Club, Spanish Club, Young Republicans, Amnesty International, and many more. |
