Florida is a state found in the southeastern region of the USA. It's one of the most populous states and it also has the largest metropolitan area in the country. Florida is made up of widely vared ethnic groups, although it's distinguished mostly by the predominant Hispanic community.

While the school ranks low in terms of "per-pupil spending" (budget allocated per student), it consistently ranks high in terms of the grades students get in standardized tests.

There are different types (college prep, military, religious, etc.) as well, and parents really have a wide variety of options to choose from. High schools in Florida compete in sports in two divisions. One is local (smaller scale) and the other one is statewide. Division winners meet each other in state championship playoffs. The competitions are governed by the Florida High School Athletic Association.
