Teen Boarding Schools in Arizona

Arizona is located in the southwestern region of the US. It's most popularly known for its desert climate (Southern Arizona region). It's also one of the most extensive and populous states in the US. While Arizona may be known for its desert climate, it does have a wide variety of climate conditions due to the fact that its land areas have different elevations.

Arizona has a very diverse population made up of different races and ethnicity, the largest of which is Mexican. Other ancestry groups include german, Irish, English, and Italian. It's also the state with the largest number of people who speak Native American languages.

Arizona's primary and secondary education system are overseen by the Arizona State Board of Education as well as the Superintendent of Public Instruction (a person elected for a four-year term). The Arizona State Board of Education oversees local school districts which operate independently. There are about 220 schools in all.

Arizona's higher education system is overseen by the Arizona Board of Regents. There are three public universities in the state. The private higher education system in the state are largely for-profit universities, with only one traditional, non-profit, 4-year college (Prescott College).

There are several Arizona boarding schools parents can choose from. The sprawling landscape of the state provides spacious school grounds for these boarding schools. For example, there's the Orme School of Arizona which is college preparatory in nature and provides support for students with ADD/ADHD. Its campus is 360 acres wide and is a beautiful spot that's conducive to learning and playing. There are also other schools that are ranch-style, where classes are kept small and children are able to enjoy learning how to ride and take care of horses as part of their extracurricular activities.
